Position Title Adjunct Faculty Literacy Studies Practicum Course Position Number: 999972 Position Category: School Division School of Education Department: Full-Time or Part-Time Part-Time Description The School of Education is pleased to invite applications for an adjunct faculty position for our Literacy Studies Practicum courses in the Department of Specialized Programs at Hofstra University. Applicants should have knowledge and experience teaching formative reading and writing evaluations, assessment-driven instructional planning, that includes literature engagements, collaborative learning, and multimodal literacy invitations and strategy assessments. The position also includes the supervision of our interns in their small group literacy support for readers at our Hofstra Reading/Writing Learning Clinic.
Qualifications An earned MSED in Literacy Studies with NY State Literacy Specialist Certification is required. Initial Certification in ELED or Secondary Education is also required. Demonstrated record of working with graduate students in a Literacy Studies Program is also necessary. Successful candidates will have demonstrated a commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusive practices in an educational environment and assessment-driven instructional planning that includes literature engagements, collaborative learning, and multimodal literacy invitations and strategy assessments.
Preferred Qualifications Summary Preferred qualifications include K-12 public school teaching and literacy support.

Salary Salary Range: $1458-$1839 per credit hour
Additional Information Hofstra University provides the above salary as a good faith estimate of the starting pay range, which considers factors such as but not limited to scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates work experience, and education. In addition to the salary offered, we offer a collegial and inclusive culture and a benefits program, which includes generous paid time off, paid holidays, tuition remission for employees and eligible dependents, and a retirement plan with University contributions. Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
