Job Summary:

SUNY Sullivan is seeking applicants to fill a part-time adjunct position for the Medical Assistant program in the Health Sciences Department. The individual mustpossess the ability to teach seated, hybrid, and clinical environments. Preference will be given to candidateswho demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy, culture of belonging, and an enthusiastic outlookfor student success.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree preferred
  • Interest in obtaining a Bachelor's degree preferred
  • 3+ years work experience in an ambulatory setting, healthcare clinic, or physician's office
  • Any of the following certifications: CMA, RMA or NCMA (LPN and RN also accepted)
  • Teaching experience is a plus
  • Community college teaching experience preferred
  • Ability to teach in different modalities (seated and online courses) preferred
  • Ability to use common software programs (MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Great interpersonal skills

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and present a course syllabus based on the agreed-upon curriculum anddepartment standards
  • Evaluate and assess students on the course learning outcomes
  • Provide advisory services for students seeking extra help and career guidance throughweekly office hours
  • Develop and follow clear and transparent grading practices
  • Timely submission of requested grades, attendance records, and academic paperworkby posted deadlines
  • Hold appropriate office hours
  • Take part as needed in typical activities of a full-time faculty member, including the following: advising/mentoring students, developing curriculum, recruiting students, and attending division and faculty meetings

Salary:

Salary is determined by a candidate's rank at SUNY Sullivan, based on teaching experience, education, etc. The full salary range is $655 to $740 per contact hour/course credit per semester.
