Job Description Summary
Instruct courses such as Statics, Introduction to Engineering, and Engineering Graphics within the Associates in Engineering curriculum. Supervise students in classroom, lab, field trips, and other hands-on experiences; develop teaching materials, activities, assignments, projects, and assessments for each course taught; prepare lesson plans and deliver instruction to students; abide by policies, standards, goals and objectives of the College, the Division, and the Department; participate in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation activities to improve the instructional quality of the program; seek opportunities for professional development. Also willing to teach all or portions of some courses online as appropriate.
Duties
1. Mastery of Subject Matter - demonstrates thorough and accurate knowledge in the teaching discipline; maintains proficiency in the subject matter field through professional development; learns and uses technology to enhance the educational experience, when appropriate.
2. Delivery of Instruction - maximizes student learning and success by planning and organizing materials and information useful to the educational process; utilizes, as appropriate, instructional technologies; modifies instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse student needs; encourages the development of critical thinking and communication skills; teaches a course load appropriate to the field or discipline.
3. Support Success of the College and Students - becomes familiar with and adheres to College policies and procedures as related to instruction and employment; prepares, distributes and submits syllabi and approved course outlines for all assigned sections as outlined by the program or division; maintains confidentiality of student information; exercises stewardship of college resources and facilities.
4. Evaluation of Student Learning - establishes and follows learning objectives that are relevant and meaningful, evaluates student progress in a fair, consistent, and timely manner to support maximum success; maintains accurate records of student performance and submits grades as directed and according to deadlines.
Minimum Requirements
1. Master's Degree in Engineering Science (or hold a Master's Degree with 18 credit hours at the graduate level in Engineering) in one of the following fields:Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or similar.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Licensed as a Professional Engineer.
2. Familiarity with Moodle or similar Learning Management System.
3. Familiarity with Solidworks
4. Previous post-secondary teaching experience.
