JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-Time, non-tenure track adjunct position in the Department of Economics and Health Care Management in the area of Economics.

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a part-time, non-tenure track, adjunct faculty position to teach an undergraduate course in Environmental Economics for Spring 2027.

Please note that this position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship.

The candidate hired to teach this course will have responsibilities for managing all aspects of teaching the course, including course development, course delivery, grading, and communicating with students. The department will provide guidance on course content and syllabus development. The candidate is also expected to hold office hours (in-person or virtual) to ensure access to students outside of class hours.

Qualifications

Required/Essential:

  • Candidates must have a Master's degree from an accredited university with a curricular emphasis in the field of Economics.
  • Since completing their Master's degree, candidates must have at least three years of full-time work experience related to economics. ABD (All But Dissertation) status or a doctoral degree in economics may substitute for industry work experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Experience in either training, public speaking, or client engagement within an organization, or experience as an instructor or teaching assistant of at least one college level course.
  • Candidates must meet LSBE's definition for one of the four AACSB faculty qualification categories; Scholarly Academic, Practice Academic, Scholarly Practitioner, or Instructional Practitioner. Details of our requirements are available here: z.umn.edu/QualsDefinitions

Preferred:

  • Master's degree with a curricular emphasis in the field of Environmental Economics.
  • Full-time work experience in environmental economics.
  • Significant experience training on topics in environmental economics or independently teaching required and elective courses in economics at the college level.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills necessary to effectively fulfill service responsibilities to students, colleagues, the department, school, campus, and community.
  • Demonstrated ability to use a variety of appropriate learning tools and/or incorporate industry projects to engage participants in learning topics in environmental economics.

About the Department

The Labovitz School of Business and Economics (LSBE) is AACSB-International accredited and housed in a state-of-the-art building. Approximately 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students are enrolled in the school's programs. There are approximately 50 full-time faculty members in four academic departments: Accounting and Finance, Economics and Health Care Management, Management Studies, and Marketing. The School offers a Bachelor of Accounting, Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Arts in Economics, and MBA degrees. Regional outreach is accomplished primarily through the Bureau of Business and Economic Research activities. Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $4,800 - $7,000 total for semester; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
