The School of Education is looking to hire a part-time university supervisor to supervise students in the field over the course of the fall 2026 semester in the subjects of Social Studies and English.
Course Description: This undergraduate/graduate level course serves students in our teacher education program.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Department Chair and specific Program Directors, the instructor will perform the following duties:
Observe field students in person three times each in classroom-based setting.
Evaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods and School of Education program evaluation system.
Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning student accountability, attendance, and performance.
Maintain a student-oriented approach to education.
Provide individual consultation and feedback to assigned field students.
Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Masters Degree preferred or substantial progress toward the terminal degree.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a master's degree and certification in the subject matter and grade level(s) to be supervised.
At least three years of K-12 teaching experience.
Experience in supervision and coaching of teachers.
Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education.
Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues.
Recent experience working in diverse, urban schools.
Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be supervised, including current instructional and assessment strategies and techniques.
Current knowledge of and experience in teacher preparation and/or professional development.
Demonstrated ability to work well with people, particularly university students, colleagues, administrators, and K-12 school personnel and students.
