Position purpose

Teach undergraduate and graduate management students a variety of management and other subjects, based upon the faculty member’s experience and interests. Subjects include aviation management, artificial intelligence (AI), and environmental sciences.

The ideal candidate will support the college in the teaching and assessment of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum. If needed, faculty members may also assist to develop new courses, programs, research and outreach projects and student engagement activities. Minimum qualification is a master’s degree, although a bachelor’s degree may suffice if the applicant has extensive experience in the field.

Major Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Teach management and other classes, as assigned, to undergraduate and graduate college students.

  • Motivate students to study the course subjects to achieve a successful career.

  • Assess the faculty member’s own courses and their place in the program to achieve the desired student learning outcomes.

  • Grade all activities for each student using standard methods and report grades on time.

  • Assist in departmental improvement and student counseling as requested.

Education and/or Experience Requirements

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in aviation management or related field. May hold a bachelor’s degree with extensive experience in the field.

  • Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours, ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.

  • An understanding of technology, learning management systems, and computer applications is essential.

Professional Skills

  • Communicate verbally, through written lessons and exams, update the syllabus to match each semester’s work, keep the class on schedule, assess the students’ accomplishment of stated goals, objectives and outcomes.

  • Grade students’ verbal, written, knowledge, skills and exam performance, and complete the grade reports on time.

  • Lead group work in classes as needed.

  • Provide a positive image to motivate future qualified employees. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents is needed.

  • Attention to detail, dependability and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important.

  • Manage, prioritize, and accomplish multiple tasks/projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.

Work environment and physical functions

The classes may be taught virtually.

Some classes entail classroom work, with electronic podium and whiteboards. Classes will be performed using learning management system (LMS), and courses can be designed to run completely on-line using the LMS, videos, Zoom, etc. Generally, an employee needs to be able to sit, stand, and navigate within the office area. The office equipment,either individually used or shared with a department, is the responsibility of all?employees.Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to (20) twenty pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.

EXEMPT/NON-EXEMPT: Non-Exempt

SALARY: The compensation rate for this position is expected to be $900 per lecture hour ($925 per lecture hour if holding a doctoral degree) $625 per lab hour.
