POSITION: Adjunct Instructor of Music | Steel Drum
DIVISION/DEPARTMENT: Arts and Humanities Division | School of Arts & Sciences
FLSA STATUS: Part-Time | Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Chair, Arts and Humanities Division
The Adjunct Instructor of Music | Steel Drum is a part-time faculty position employed for a specific assignment and specified academic term. The Adjunct Instructor of Music | Steel Drum shall have the primary responsibilities to provide music instruction for the Arts and Sciences Division because music inspires, excites, guides, livens, and motivates students through its study, practice, and performance. Teaching, at a minimum, includes regular and in-person instruction, responsiveness to students, the provision of timely and constructive academic feedback to students, and course and program assessment. This position will report directly to the Chair of the Arts and Humanities Division.

Previous conducting/directing skills are desirable
Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner.
Effective analytical and decision-making skills.
Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, time management skills
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, LinkedIn Learning, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
Familiarity with Jenzabar technology suite for higher education.
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Minimum Requirements
This position requires a Master's degree and 18 graduate credit hours in the music teaching area or a doctoral degree in the music teaching discipline required.
Demonstrated Grade 5/6 level performance and sight-reading skills.
Preferred qualifications-Experience directing groups.
Demonstrated skill on instrument or voice.
A record showing commitment to customer service and the application of appropriate flexibility in response to issues and opposing points of view.
An active passion for music and the local and international scene.
Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule that may include working nights and weekends.
