Job Summary

Fort Valley State University seeks qualified applicants for a pool of adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate courses across the Behavioral and Social Sciences disciplines. Areas may include, but are not limited to, Psychology, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Political Science, and related fields. Appointments are temporary and based on instructional needs for fall, spring, or summer terms in face-to-face, hybrid, or online formats.

Placement in the pool does not guarantee employment. Course assignments depend on enrollment, funding, scheduling and departmental needs.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses following approved curriculum
  • Prepare and deliver instruction in various formats
  • Develop or use syllabi, assignments and assessments
  • Communicate course expectations and evaluate student performance
  • Maintain records and submit grades on time
  • Use required instructional technologies
  • Support student learning and maintain availability
  • Participate in required training or meetings
  • Follow University policies and maintain confidentiality

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a Behavioral or Social Science discipline or related field with at least 18 graduate hours in the teaching area
  • Ability to teach and communicate subject matter effectively
  • Basic proficiency with instructional technology

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate in a Behavioral or Social Science discipline or related field
  • College-level teaching experience
  • Experience with online or hybrid instruction

Appointment Terms

Adjunct appointments are temporary part-time and course-based with no guarantee of continued employment. Compensation is set per course. Assignments depend on enrollment, funding and performance.
