Summary

The Department of Humanities at Regis College seeks an Adjunct Instructor to teach two religious studies courses:

  • RS-309: Religious Hope & the Future. This course will be conducted in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 9:00-9:50. This course examines the role that belief plays in enabling people to move toward the future. Selected readings will be taken from the Judeo-Christian tradition, with special emphasis on the insights of twentieth century believers.
  • RS-107: Jesus, Myth & Reality. This course will be conducted in-person on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays 10:00:10:50. Is Jesus really human? How can He be divine and human at the same time? What does Jesus mean to Christians today? What has He meant to Christians in the past? The course will deal with these questions and with the issues behind them.

(Using the Regis Syllabus template and staying within the general parameters of the course descriptions and outcomes, instructor has the freedom to construct the content of the classes and decide on course assignments in consultation with department Chair.)

Essential Functions

  • Teaching RS-309 & RS-107
  • Ensuring appropriate curriculum design, implementation, and assessment of the course
  • Providing timely feedback to students and holding office hours at least 2 hours/week (this can be done via Zoom)
  • Please Note: Adjunct instructors are NOT expected to attend school or department meetings (though they are welcome to), conduct academic advising, or serve on standing committees.

Requirements

An advanced degree (PhD preferred but not required) in a discipline related to the humanities and/or religious studies

  • At least two years teaching experience
  • References upon request

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

  • Normal classroom environment, not subject to extremes in noise, odors, etc.

Compensation

  • Master's degree-prepared candidate: $3,481.62 per course
  • Doctoral degree-prepared candidate: $3,700.62 per course
