SUMMARY

The School of Health Sciences, Department of Medical Imaging is seeking applicants for adjunct faculty positions in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. Candidates must possess the ability to teach classes and/or labs in courses which may include ultrasound physics, abdomen, ob/gyn, vascular, pediatrics, breast or fetal echo, depending on the course. Responsibilities include instruction, evaluation, supervision, and assessment of the students at the undergraduate level. Adjunct faculty report directly to the Program Director and work collaboratively with the Clinical Coordinator and other faculty within the department.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Teach various courses and/or labs within the DMS program demonstrating appropriate preparation and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the program director in the planning, development, and evaluation of required DMS courses and labs.
  • Encourage student learning through discussions, varied learning activities, and applied experiences

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • RDMS and RVT certification required for the course or lab being taught. Examples: Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular, MSK, Pediatrics, Breast or Fetal Echo.
  • Bachelor's degree required. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of three years of full-time clinical experience in sonography.
  • Evidence of prior teaching experience or clinical supervision of interns preferred,

  • Ability to collaborate with other faculty
  • Ability to utilize technology necessary for teaching including but not limited to: Office 365, Moodle, library and other online resources

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Normal classroom and sonography lab environment
  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours per day; move and operate ultrasound equipment including lifting, pulling, bending and squatting.
  • May use computer keyboards and ultrasound machines requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity.

COMPENSATION: $4,607.11 for 3-credit course or $65/hour Lab Instruction
