Position Number Position Title Adjunct Onsite Science Instructor SCI310 Job Description Summary
The College of STM&HS at EOU is recruiting an instructor for SCI 310 Community Science Methods course for the Spring Term 2024. Course will be taught onsite and focus on water monitoring, understanding local water sheds, etc.
- EOU is interested in applicants who are committed to assisting our students in reaching their professional goals.
- Appointments are on an as-needed basis and would begin Spring Term 2024.
Responsibilities
Part-time onsite adjunct Instructor in the SCI 310 Community Science Methods course would be responsible to:
- Teach and engage students in Citizen and Community Science principles and experiential learning.
- Build (in Canvas) and administer an onsite course that may have both a lecture and field component.
- Provide students with effective and inclusive outdoor teaching strategies.
- Providing guidance to water monitoring and understanding of local water sheds, including certification attainment, data/sample collection, and fieldwork.
Required Qualifications
- The successful candidate will hold a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of five years relevant experience
- Higher education teaching experience
- Must satisfactorily complete EOU criminal and credential background check.
- Valid work authorization documents are required. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. Eastern Oregon University does not sponsor applicants for employment visas.
Preferred Qualifications
- The successful candidate will hold a Master's Degree in a relevant field
- One or more years of experience teaching relevant courses in post-secondary, online environment
- Previous teaching experience, preferably in post-secondary education
- Ability to effectively inspire and teach students from diverse backgrounds and learning styles in online education environment
- Competency in the use of an online learning management software application(s) ( i.e. CANVAS, Blackboard, etc.)
