Job Summary

Seeking qualified, experienced instructors for Philosophy courses in the Arts, Business & Education Department. Successful candidates will have experience and be willing to instruct in either face-to-face or online classes as needed.

  • Adjunct pool applications are reviewed on an as-needed basis and will be retained for one (1) year from the date of application
  • Adjuncts are paid at a per credit hour rate

Typical Job Functions

  • Teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved syllabus and course outcomes
  • Prepare lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments that support student learning
  • Provide timely, constructive feedback to students on academic process
  • Hold regular office hours or make reasonable arrangements to support student questions and academic needs
  • Follow college policies, department procedures, safety guidelines, and accessibility expectations
  • Communicate professionally with deans, associate deans, department chairs, colleagues, and students in a timely manner
  • Attend departmental meetings and In-Service (optional)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Masters Degree in Philosophy or masters degree in a closely related discipline with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Philosophy
  • Incumbent must reside in Idaho (Currently CEI doesn't sponsor H-1B Visas)
  • Evidenced teaching experience

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual (Spanish)
  • At least three years of higher education teaching experience

Physical Demand and Work Environment:

Employees work indoors and are protected from weather and/or contaminants, but not, necessarily, occasional temperature changes. The employee is regularly required to sit and often uses repetitive hand motions.

On-site work is essential and regular predictable attendance is required. Employees may be required to work at occasional events and handle tasks outside of regular working hours.

Background Investigations:

Employment at College of Eastern Idaho will be contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background investigation and may require a credit and/or motor vehicle background investigation depending on the position. Please refer to Policy 225: Background Checks
