Job description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Avila University College of Arts and Sciences, guided by its mission of excellence in teaching and learning and dedicated to service to the Dear Neighbor, is actively seeking adjunct instructors in physics for multiple part-time appointments for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. The successful candidate will be able to teach in-person lectures and labs for Physics Concepts, General Physics I, and General Physics II.
Responsibilities: • Conduct all class sessions according to the assigned schedule. • Provide instruction, activities, assignments, assessments, and feedback to adequately cover all objectives for the specific course(s) taught. • Deliver content using effectual methods which are appropriate to students with differing abilities, levels of preparation, and cultural experiences. • Work effectively with the program Chair. • Perform other duties as needed related to assigned courses.
Qualifications: • Master's degree or higher in specific discipline relevant to teaching responsibilities or a master''s degree in another area with 18 credit hours of discipline graduate coursework from an accredited university/college. • Demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. • Teaching experience with a diverse population (preferred). • Experience with a Learning Management System such as Canvas (preferred). • Experience with effective methods for engaging students through online learning (preferred) • Ability to contribute to a climate that supports a diverse student body, serves first-generation college students, multilingual learners, and contributions to equity and social justice through their work.
