JOB DESCRIPTION:

Newberry College invites applications for an Adjunct Professor of Science beginning August 2026. Candidates need to have the education and skills to teach Introduction to Physical Science. Topics include properties of matter, elements, the Periodic Table, chemical reactions, forces, Newton's Laws of Motion, time-distance relationships, energy, electricity, magnetism, and sound. The successful candidate should be able to engage students in their learning, help students build confidence in their intellectual abilities, and develop alternate strategies to help students grasp the material. Position is contingent on available funding.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Teach one section of an entry-level Physical Science course in person (SCI 120).
  • Manage and teach course laboratories.
  • Grade and provide feedback to students.
  • Maintain student office hours on campus.

EDUCATIONAL OR OTHER HIRING REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POSITION

A masters (required) or doctorate (Ph.D.) degree in an area related to Physical Science. Candidates who are about to graduate with their degree or have significant teaching experience will also be considered.
