Job Responsibilities
Serves at the Lead Coordinator for the South Carolina Army National Guard Child and Youth Program. Acts as the primary advisor to the J9-Program Manager and State Family Program Director. Develops the statewide youth curriculum and annual program of events (camps, symposiums, retreats, etc.). Recruits, trains, and manages a state-level adult volunteer team to support Guard youth events. Serves as the adult lead sponsor for the state National Guard Youth Council (Teen Panel). Markets DoW child care fee assistance (Army Fee Assistance) to families and manages community partnerships (4-H, Boys & Girls Clubs, etc.). Coordinates with the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program (YRRP) for youth support during deployment cycles. Ensures compliance with Federal and State laws, policies and regulations applicable to DoW Child & Youth programs. Executes work in accordance with Federal and State policies and regulations.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services. A bachelors degree may be substituted for required work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of professional experience in youth programming and military family program experience. Understanding of military lifestyles and families.
Additional Comments
Employee must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable determination on a CNACI background check, which includes an FBI criminal history background check conducted through the Criminal Justice Identification Services Division of the FBI and State Criminal History Repository checks through State repositories of all States. Knowledge of developmental principles, practices, and age-appropriate programming for youth and teens (06-18). Knowledge of Federal and State child abuse prevention and detection laws. Management & operations skills in event planning, scheduling and supervision. Ability to manage funds, equipment and records/reports. Strong interpersonal and English communication skills (oral/written). Must have and maintain a state drivers license. Works under the general supervision of the State Family Programs Director (SFPD) who provides general administrative and policy direction. Is encouraged to use own initiative in in accomplishing tasks and duties while adhering to the policies of the Agency, and State and Federal regulations. Must actively participates in indoor/outdoor youth programs and diverse field trips which requires walking, standing, bending, stooping and lifting. Overnight and extended stays may be required to support ongoing operations, and during attendance at workshops, meetings, seminars, etc. Mandatory drug testing is required. Must pass a pre-employment physical and maintain up-to-date immunizations. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of an online South Carolina State Employment Application.
