Job Requirements

Minimum Education

  • Associate s degree in Nursing required

Required Licenses

  • Current RN registration in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • AHA ACLS

Minimum Work Experience

  • Previous experience in management and / or leadership role
  • Three - four years acute care experience preferred

Required Skills

  • Leadership attributes and decision-making skills

Functional Demands

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Frequently reaches (extending hands and arms in any direction), and handles (seizing, holding, grasping, turning, or working with hands).

Essential Functions

  • Responds immediately to critical events
  • Provides leadership and follow up during critical events such as code blue, code red and code 100.
  • Provides appropriate follow up (i.e. staff education, documentation, family / staff support, etc.)
  • Adjusts staffing levels to ensure the highest level of patient care.
  • Evaluates staffing needs continuously and adjusts as necessary to meet the needs of the patient for the current and next shifts.
  • Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff.
  • Functions as a clinical and administrative resource for the nursing staff.
  • Provides clinical consultation, advice and education.
  • Assists staff with problems.
  • Completes all employee performance evaluations by evaluation due dates.
  • Assists staff with conflict resolution (i.e. staff / physician, patient / physician, staff / staff).
  • Mediates conflict.
  • Reports and communicates situation appropriately.
  • Advocates for patients, families, and staff.
  • Intervenes on patient / staff behalf.
  • Supports patients rights.
  • Supports other departments to meet patient needs.
  • Maintains operations of other departments during non-operating hours.
  • Functions as an administrative resource for other departments during non-operative hours.
