Job Title: Remit Tax Analyst
Location: Lake Mary, FL 32746
Work Schedule: Hybrid (Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday in-office)


Position Overview:
As a Tax Analyst, you will specialize in State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) and Payroll Tax Compliance. The role is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and integrity of payroll tax remittances, administering SUI rates, managing tax reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with state tax regulations.
You will work closely with payroll tax teams, third-party vendors, and state taxing agencies to minimize tax risk exposure and support accurate tax filings.

Key Responsibilities:
State Unemployment Insurance (SUI) Administration
  • Manage third-party vendor inquiries by analyzing state UI agency correspondence, including: Fact-finding requests, Account closures, Rate adjustments
  • Obtain current and upcoming SUI rates from state agencies for January 1 and July 1 rate cycles.
  • Research and resolve outstanding Protest Rate balances.
  • Utilize state amnesty programs to settle open accounts and avoid penalties or future rate increases.
Tax Compliance & Reporting
  • Execute quarterly and annual payroll tax compliance activities.
  • Review and maintain payroll tax remittance accuracy.
  • Conduct state unemployment reconciliations.
  • Validate State/Private Plan Types and tax filing profile changes.
  • Prepare year-end payroll tax updates, including state wage base and rate changes.
Control Reporting & Data Management
  • Validate: Small Group Interunit Transfers (weekly), Strategic Transfers (quarterly)
  • Ensure employee work and residential tax jurisdictions are correctly assigned.
  • Submit required transfer documentation to state agencies.
  • Manage SUI snapshot activities and investigate system discrepancies.
  • Generate weekly PeopleSoft upload files using automated reporting tools.
Vendor & Agency Coordination
  • Collaborate with Client and other payroll vendors regarding: SUI rate updates, Tax filing requirements, Reporting discrepancies
  • Maintain ongoing communication with state taxing authorities.
Process Improvement
  • Review and update payroll tax compliance procedures.
  • Partner with Global Payroll Tax teams to improve process accuracy and efficiency.
  • Manage Joint Account and Voluntary Rate Contribution tracking.
  • Analyze potential tax savings opportunities and present recommendations for approval.

Required Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree OR
  • Minimum 4 years of equivalent professional experience
Experience
  • 3 years of experience in:
    • Multi-state payroll tax environments
    • Payroll tax compliance
    • Large-scale tax systems
Technical Skills: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (Docs, Slides)
