About the Agency

The Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is the states lead economic and community development agency. MDA recruits new companies to Mississippi, helps existing companies expand, and provides support to foster growth and new opportunities in a variety of areas, including energy, small and minority business, trade, film, retiree recruitment, and more. Additionally, MDA attracts millions of visitors to the state each year through Visit Mississippi, the tourism division of the agency. MDA also supports pass-through funding and provides support for a variety of grant programs and nonprofit organizations.

About the Position

The Admin Support Specialist will perform a broad range of administrative, customer service, information processing, and operational support duties for the Mississippi Development Authority. Responsibilities include providing administrative and operations support for multiple divisions, which may require coordinating requests, prioritizing assignments, and assisting staff across functional areas. This position will serve as an initial point of contact for visitors, callers, public officials, business and industry partners, vendors, and agency staff. Work requires professionalism, accuracy, organization, sound judgment, timely response to internal and external requests, and the ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality when handling sensitive information, records, and communications. - Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Provide administrative, operational, and customer service support for assigned divisions and agency staff. • Greet visitors, answer and route calls, respond to general inquiries, and direct individuals to appropriate staff. • Coordinate meeting logistics, conference room reservations, schedules, travel arrangements, and related support needs. • Prepare, process, scan, organize, and maintain correspondence, records, reports, forms, and other administrative materials. • Assist with purchasing, travel documentation, payment tracking, mail, shipping, and other routine office support functions. • Support special events, facility coordination, document processing, and other operational assignments as needed. • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive agency information, records, and communications. • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

To be successful, a candidate should have excellent communication, customer service, organizational, and computer skills. The candidate should be able to multitask, prioritize, and maintain professionalism and confidentiality. The candidate should be detail-oriented, able to manage multiple priorities, maintain confidentiality, and work professionally with staff, vendors, partners, and the public.

Preferred Qualifications

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience. - Agency Preferred Qualifications: Education and Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent and 4-6 years of experience in an administrative, office support, customer service, information processing, records management, or related support role. Experience in administrative support, reception, records management, data entry, scheduling, mail or shipping services, purchasing, travel documentation, or related office support functions.

Life Insurance

Flexible Spending Accounts

Paid Personal Leave and Sick Leave

Full-time employees receive paid time off for personal needs and for sick leave. Leave begins accruing after one month of employment and may be used as it is accrued. Employees earn approximately 18 days of personal leave annually and 12 days of sick leave annually.

Military Leave

In accordance with federal law, all employees serving in the armed forces or the military reserves are entitled to 15 days per year for military training.
