Required Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Working knowledge of business English; Familiarity with standard office practices, procedures, and filing systems; Ability to perform basic tabulation and arithmetic calculations; Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; Ability to interact courteously and effectively with the public and internal staff; Ability to maintain accurate records and handle sensitive information with discretion
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Experience working in a public-facing, customer service, or administrative support role; Experience in a government, healthcare, veterans' services, or cemetery environment; Familiarity with eligibility determinations, benefits processing, or application review processes; Proficiency with common office software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) and basic data systems; Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to interact compassionately with veterans, family members, and the public; Experience supporting outreach activities, reporting, or community events
Job Responsibilities: Responds to telephone, written, electronic, and in-person inquiries by providing information and assistance to the public, veterans, family members, representatives, and outside agencies; follows up as necessary; Performs eligibility determinations for individuals applying for or receiving cemetery-related benefits and services; Maintains knowledge of services, programs, and resources available through the cemetery; assists in the development and upkeep of reference and resource materials; Coordinates services and communicates with cemetery field staff to ensure appropriate support and follow-through for applicants and families; Serves as a liaison and advocate with service provider agencies; assists individuals with the completion of applications and required documentation; Conducts interviews in an office, on-site, or field setting, as required; Assists with the distribution of printed materials and informational resources; Supports the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual statistical and informational reports; Receives, investigates, and documents complaints and concerns in accordance with established procedures; Participates in assigned outreach activities statewide, including information fairs, public meetings, identification card processing, and eligibility screenings; Performs related clerical and administrative duties as assigned
