Description
The Office of Academic Affairs invites applications for a full-time, 12-month appointment as Administrative Assistant. The successful applicant will play a key role in the smooth running of all academic functions within the university by providing key support to academic divisions: Departments of Business, Fine Arts, Language & Literature, Science & Math, Social Sciences, and the College of Health Sciences, as well as the Office of Academic Affairs.
Examples of Duties
Include supporting faculty, staff, and students; facilitating the development of course schedules; aiding in planning and scheduling events; assisting students with course registration; generating data for reports; tracking Department budgets including making purchases and reconciling of purchasing card transactions; coordinating communication and assisting with the Graduate Hooding Ceremony. This position will also serve as the key triage person for the Office of Academic Affairs and greet all incoming visitors and assist/direct as needed. The successful candidate will be responsible for data entry and inquiry in the Banner system, generation of reports from the Argos system, and other duties as requested by departments or assigned by the Office of Academic Affairs.
Typical Qualifications
Excellent attitude, flexibility, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to providing high quality assistance to students, department chairs and deans, and the university are required. High School diploma or GED required; Associates degree or higher preferred. Specific knowledge of office functions, self-motivation and multi-tasking abilities is a must.

Retirement Plan: The college matches your 6 percent contribution (tax exempt dollars) towards TIAA/CREF or Teachers Retirement System. Thus, 12 percent of your gross salary is working for your retirement income. New employees must join TIAA/CREF.
TIAA Total Disability Benefits Plan: Optional employees coverage that provides (1) monthly income and (2) payments of premiums to your TIAA/CREF retirement plan to participating employees who suffer total, long-term disabilities. The cost is adjusted according to individual salary on a yearly basis. Employees become eligible upon completion of the first year of employment.
