Who We AreThe Reno-Sparks Indian Colony represents descendants of three Great Basin Indigenous peoples: the Numu (Northern Paiute), Newe (Western Shoshone), and Washeshu (Washoe). These communities lived in harmony with the land for generations before European contact, following seasonal cycles and forming small, efficient social groups for survival.Each group's name means "The People" in their own language, reflecting their deep cultural identity and connection to the Earth. They maintained strong traditions, respected neighboring tribes, and engaged in trade throughout the region.Today, the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony continues to honor these traditions while supporting the well-being, culture, and future of its tribal community.The RoleAs an Administrative Assistant III, you provide high-level administrative and clerical support to the Planning Director, Economic Development Director, and Director of Commercial Property Management. This role exists to keep department operations organized, accurate, and responsive while handling sensitive information with discretion.Key responsibilities include preparing reports, letters, memoranda, resolutions, and other correspondence; managing calendars, meeting logistics, and travel arrangements; maintaining department files in alignment with the tribal records management system; serving as a liaison with Tribal programs (with emphasis on Finance) for budgeting support, expenditure monitoring, requisitions, vouchers, and timely vendor payments; researching and compiling data for special projects; and acting as recording secretary when requested.Required qualifications/skills:- High school diploma/GED (A.A. preferred in a related field)- 1+ year in a similar administrative role- Familiarity with office practices and basic accounting concepts- Strong written/verbal communication; professionalism with the public- Proficiency with Windows 10/MS Office and office equipment- Valid driver's license; insurable under tribal policy- Ability to work effectively in a diverse cultural setting (Indian Preference applies)Apply to bring your organization, judgment, and service mindset to a role that supports key Directors and community-focused work.A Typical DayYour day is structured and fast-moving: you start by reviewing calendars, prioritizing requests for three Directors, and setting up the day's meetings, visitors, and calls. Throughout the morning, you shift between drafting and formatting documents, updating logs and files, and preparing materials needed for upcoming discussions.As tasks come in, you keep details straight-tracking paperwork through internal steps, confirming information before it moves forward, and following up so items don't stall. Midday often includes coordinating with Finance, checking numbers against what's been recorded, and preparing items that need review.In the afternoon, you may support a meeting by capturing notes and turning them into clear minutes, then wrap up by reconciling travel documentation, organizing the next day's priorities, and ensuring the office remains welcoming and professional for everyone who reaches out.Your Benefits- Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage- 401(k)- Life Insurance- Paid Time OffPlease Note: Hiring preference is provided to qualified members of the Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes.
