The Administrative Assistant facilitates company operations by providing a full range of administrative and clerical support for the entire organization. This position strives to fulfill the mission of United Way of Connecticut (UWCT) at all times while at work.


What Will You Do

• Answers and routes incoming calls, takes messages, and when necessary, locates individuals for callers. Retrieves messages from general mailbox and delivers to appropriate staff person. 

• Greets guests and notifies individuals when their expected visitors have arrived. • Responds to and resolves administrative inquiries and questions. 

• Creates, formats, edits, proofreads correspondence, reports, forms, labels, spreadsheets, charts, graphs, flyers, tent cards, etc. 

• Assembles various packets, materials, mailings, surveys, manuals for trainings, brochures, etc. and distributes accordingly 

• Maintains office supplies and coordinates maintenance of office equipment.

 • Provides logistical support for internal and external meetings • Assists with facilities management issues. • Serves as point of contact for Subsidy Department and liaises with OEC for system requests. 

• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

 Who you are 

• Associate’s degree and three years of related work experience preferred; or a High School Diploma/GED and five years of related work experience required. 

• Proficiency with MS Office applications.

 • Knowledge and experience in office systems and operation of office equipment. 

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality in day-to-day duties. 

• Solid written and verbal communication, listening, organization, detail orientation and priority setting skills. 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple and changing priorities even under pressure; takes initiative while maintaining a professional demeanor. 

• Strong customer focus in all tasks and activities, even while under pressure.

 • Solid problem-solving skills. 

• Ability to work in a team environment and with people from diverse backgrounds. 


Work Environment and Physical Demands

 • Ability to concentrate and remain focused while handling multiple tasks, responsibilities and projects;

• Ability to perform continuous bending, twisting, stooping and reaching and lifting of moderate weight material up to 20 lbs.

• Is frequently required to finger and reach with hands and arms.

• Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 • The work environment is a clean and comfortable office setting consisting of standard fluorescent lighting, offices, cubicles and open workspaces. There may be variations of temperature and noise level.


Pay: $18.00 - $20.00

Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm (In- Office)
