Position Description

This position performs a variety of duties which include performing office administration and operations activities for the Sheriff's Office.

This is a full-time, non-exempt, on-site position.

Pay & Benefits

  • Salary: $48,006 to $56,409 ($23.08 to $27.12 per hour).
  • Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 28- LELS 567: $48,006 to $64,812 ($23.08 to $31.16 per hour).

Work Location

  • This position will work at the Anoka County Sheriff's Office, located at 13301 Hanson Blvd NW, Andover, MN 55304.
  • Expected work hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

These examples are not all inclusive and are intended to be illustrative of primary responsibilities of an Anoka County Administrative Assistant.

  • Provide clerical and administrative support for the Anoka Hennepin Narcotics & Violent Task Force (DTF). Deliver remarkable customer service while answering phones, and reserving facilities.
  • Perform office administration and operations activities such as maintain physical and electronic files, tracking personnel, handling billing, account maintenance and verifying purchases.
  • Prepare and log regularly recurring data for department reports and documents.
  • Receive, review, and process all invoices for payment; investigate and correct errors as necessary.
  • Reconcile monthly revenue and expense reports and complete year-end financials for the department.
  • Complete quarterly reconciliation and reporting for state and federal grants.
  • Monitor DTF fixed assets and conduct annual inventory.
  • Act as a liaison and point of contact for employees, the department, and/or the public.
  • Translate concerns and requests for information into clear and accurate responses and elevate concerns as needed.
  • Compile, schedule, and coordinate materials for meetings for multiple levels of leadership within the organization.
  • Monitor and track purchase orders, order supplies, uniforms, consumables, coordinate contracts and service with vendors.
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Requires a high school diploma and at least two years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
  • In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Successfully pass an extensive background investigation.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed

  • Associate degree in accounting, human resources, public administration, or closely related field.
  • Three or more years (2,080 annual hours) of administrative support experience.
  • Experience in law enforcement, corrections, or legal environment.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and coordinate workflows.
  • General understanding of general office procedures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Word processing, spreadsheet, database, and PowerPoint experience.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with frequent interruption.

Physical Demands and Work Conditions

  • Standard office environment.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus, such as to work on computers. Ability to see colors, shades, and brightness.
  • Hearing abilities required for general and phone communication, signals, and machine sounds.
  • Assignments are sedentary, occasionally alternating between sitting, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling as required to perform job responsibilities. Frequent wrist and finger manipulation to complete computer work.
  • Occasional lifting of 10-20 lbs.
  • Equipment used includes computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Occasional travel to other county work sites as needed. Travel between work sites may require driving a county vehicle and/or a personal vehicle.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement between Anoka County and Law Enforcement Labor Services.
