Administrative Assistant
Position will be assigned to Public Works Real Estate in Building 23 with an anticipated schedule of 8-5 M, W, and F; however, there is room to flex the schedule. This position does require field work.
To provide administrative, clerical, and organizational support to the city's encroachments team. This position helps ensure compliance with city regulations regarding public right-of-way, easements, and property encroachments.
Job Duties:
- Maintain records and databases of encroachment permits, applications, and inspections.
- Update spreadsheets, logs, and internal databases.
- Assist in preparing public reports or notifications.
- Respond to inquiries from residents, property owners, or businesses about encroachment rules.
- Provide guidance on the permit application process.
- Route complaints or concerns to appropriate staff.
Qualifications:
- Previous administrative experience in a government or public works setting is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Knowledge of local government codes, permits, and public property regulations is advantageous.
Requirements:
- Requires any combination of education (above the high school level) and/or experience equivalent to four (4) years in fields utilizing the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- Must have a current and VA/NC valid driver's license for a position
- DMV check.
- A Defensive Driving Course must be taken prior to start.
- Previous Experience with real estate preferred but not required
