POSITION OVERVIEW

Please note the start date for this position would be on or after September 14, 2026.

This position is located in the Clerk and Recorder's Election Office and is responsible for processing voter registration, coordinating election processes, and verifying petitions. These duties include processing daily registration applications to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifying missing information and notifying provisionally registered voters; assisting voters who register in-person; scanning voter registration application card; printing batches of voter confirmation cards and mailing to voters; ensuring that all voter registration application cards are processed within the 30-day close of registration before each election;; preparing and distributing mail ballot packets; processing petitions for candidates running for office and individuals circulating issues to be placed on future ballots; receiving and filing documents including Oaths of Office, Nominating Petitions for Office, and other various candidate forms. The position reports to the Election Supervisor and does not supervise staff. This position is flexible with a schedule that can be full time or part time.

QUALIFICATIONS

This work requires knowledge of federal, state and county election laws, rules, and procedures; reading maps; local geography and corresponding voting precincts; records management; research methods; excellent customer service techniques; skill in the use of various computer software and systems including Word, Excel and Microsoft Outlook; accurate data entry; ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; must be able to maintain the integrity of sensitive and highly confidential information; exercise courtesy and tact in receiving the public, and in giving and obtaining information in person and over the phone; be detail oriented and a self-starter; have the ability to be flexible and adapt to change and be able to work in a fast paced office during election cycles.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

The required knowledge, skills, and abilities are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year job-related work experience. The job is learned with on-the-job training.

Licenses and Certifications: Applicants for this position must possess a valid drivers license, provide own transportation to conduct out of office job duties (mileage reimbursement provided under the County policy), and to be insurable under the Countys liability policies.

As a condition of hire, the final candidate will be required to successfully pass a background screening.

RETIREMENT:
