Sanitary Engineer
Administrative Clerk (Full-Time)
Location: 791 W. Smith Road, Medina, Ohio 44256
Reports To: Assistant Sanitary Engineer
Position Summary
The Medina County Sanitary Engineer's Office is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Administrative Clerk to join our Engineering Division. This role plays a vital part in maintaining smooth office operations by performing a variety of routine clerical and administrative tasks that support our critical infrastructure projects.
The successful candidate will serve as a primary point of contact for the public, manage vital data and project tracking systems, maintain regulatory records for the Ohio EPA, and provide essential administrative backup. Key Responsibilities
Administrative & Customer Support
- Serve as the first point of contact for the public, providing professional and courteous assistance.
- Answer and direct incoming telephone calls to the appropriate department personnel.
- Open, sort, and distribute daily incoming mail.
- Exhibit a professional and courteous demeanor in all interactions with staff and the public.
- Provide backup support to the Administrative Assistant as needed.
Document Management & Reporting
- Prepare, format, and proofread professional correspondence, reports, and confidential documents for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain and retrieve project files, coordinate mass mailings, prepare copies, and assemble documents.
- Assemble project specification books for upcoming construction projects.
- Record and prepare official department meeting minutes.
- Maintain records and documentation required for Ohio EPA reporting.
Data Tracking & Financial Operations
- Create, scan, enter, and maintain essential data for water and sewer petitions as well as customer complaint tracking systems.
- Create and process department purchase orders.
- Order and maintain the inventory of office supplies.
- Perform routine clerical tasks including researching, organizing, and gathering information according to established procedures.
Qualifications
Required
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Valid Ohio Driver's License with the ability to drive a County vehicle for work-related assignments.
- Proficiency in basic office equipment and core computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Accurate typing at a speed sufficient for successful job performance.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
Preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years of professional office experience.
- Familiarity or experience with Esri software and Microsoft Suite.
Schedule
- Full-Time Position 8:00a - 4:30p.
Pay and Benefits Package
- Competitive wage based on qualifications and experience:
Pay Range: $20.25 per hour - $24.25 per hour

Working Conditions
This position primarily involves a typical office setting but may require:
- Mobility to work in a standard office environment with intermittent twisting, reaching, writing, and keyboard use.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle files, tools, and office equipment.
- Regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
- Specific vision abilities including close vision and focus adjustment.
- Ability to lift office materials weighing up to twenty-five (25) pounds.
- Occasional exposure to environments generating heat and cold, or working in confined office/storage areas.
