This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, 220 Faison Drive, Columbia SC 29203.

As the Administrative Coordinator I, you will report to the Bryan Psychiatric Hospital's Pharmacy Director, and perform complex administrative activities to support pharmacy operations, workflow, and personnel; maintain state and federal pharmacy and non-pharmacy drug storage regulatory licensing and permitting; monitor pharmacist and pharmacy technician credentialing. You will also use knowledge of specific programs and pharmacy operations to make independent decision, and exercise judgment concerning internal office procedure; perform paraprofessional duties and assist the professional staff of the pharmacy in completing, under limited supervision, complex, highly skilled duties involved in the practice of pharmacy.

Responsibilities for the Administrative Coordinator I include:
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute administrative, business support activities, and projects essential for pharmacy operation.
  • Provide administrative support to the BPH Director of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy Supervisor.
  • Perform timekeeping and payroll duties, including maintenance of timekeeping records.
  • Coordinate personnel activities for the department and monitor/maintain pharmacy field folders, including credentialing documentation for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, student interns and volunteers from employment through separation.
  • Maintain state and federal licensing activities for the pharmacy department and non-pharmacy drug storage areas.
  • Research, prepare documentation, and obtain non-drug related pharmacy supplies, equipment (including IT related equipment) and equipment repairs from appropriate sources in keeping with procurement procedures.
  • Serve as recorder/organizer and disseminator of minutes for BPH/MV Medication Management Committee and other meetings as assigned.
  • Provide additional staffing as a pharmacy technician and perform other related job duties when required.
  • Maintain mandatory training requirement, including SCIES, PPD, MAPS, MANDT, and CPR refresher training, cultural and population-specific compliance, corporate HIPAA compliance, harassment-free workplace and time and attendance policies.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
  • A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration or administrative services.
  • A bachelor's degree may be substituted for the related work experience.
  • Active registration with the SC LLR Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician.
Additional Requirements
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds; ability to see, hear at normal volumes, stand, walk, reach, pull, stoop, bend and climb at least two (2) or three (3) flights of stairs.
  • Must have manual dexterity.
  • Must be able to provide emergency care (CPR) to patients of cardiac/respiratory arrest and utilize MAPS/MANDT in specific situations as warranted.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Administrative experience in healthcare or academic healthcare environment, proficiency with SCEIS, Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.
