    The successful candidate will work in the Macro-Modeling and Monetary Division (ICDMM) of the IMF Institute for Capacity Development (ICD) which is responsible for overseeing the design, organization, and delivery of capacity development (CD) activities for government officials in our different Regional Capacity Development Centers, as well as at the IMF headquarters in Washington, D.C. Specifically, the division designs training activities in macroeconomics and monetary policy, as well as technical assistance (TA) in macroeconomic frameworks, including forecasting and policy analysis systems and nowcasting, and backstops ICD resident advisors at Regional Technical Assistance Centers. The division also works on related internal training for IMF economists through the Internal Economics Training (IET) program and collaborates on the preparation and oversight of on-line courses within its topical responsibilities. He/She will work in a team with three other coordinators, including a head coordinator who provides administrative oversight of the tasks being undertaken in support of the division's work. The selected candidate is expected to:

    • Carry out all aspects of CD-related divisional work, in support of the mission teams, including formatting memoranda, briefing materials, official correspondence (comprising text, tables, and charts) as well as training course and TA-related materials; and coordinating translation, proofreading, archiving and maintaining CD documents; maintaining data and running reports in various CD systems; organizing meetings and official events; and other tasks as appropriate;
    • Review incoming and outgoing documents (such as Board documents, briefing papers, back-to-office reports) and distributes Board documents, including prior editing and formatting, to send them through the review process. Monitors and responds as necessary to e-mail, fields requests for information/comment, and tracks/enforces all associated deadlines. Prioritizes, routes, and schedules work to ensure an appropriate and efficient resolution/response. Anticipates and resolves competing priorities or escalates to a senior assistant or supervisor when necessary.
    • Interact with mission chiefs on training courses and TA projects, regional training center coordinators, other related divisions in ICD, various departments and officials from member countries to assist with the administration of training courses, seminars, and TA missions;
    • Assist with mission planning and staffing, including independently interacting with economists in the department;
    • Manage the (Deputy) Division Chiefs’ agendas and support their key responsibilities to help contribute to a smooth workflow within the division and department, as well as with other IMF departments and external stakeholders;
    • Organize meetings, seminars, workshops, and/or conferences, including planning, material production, scheduling, logistical arrangements, and liaising with participants and speakers. Coordinate and publish internet or IMF intranet postings for the work unit, including country entries. Request interpretation services when needed.
    • Contribute to other divisional and departmental work, including working groups, social activities, and other special events.  

    QUALIFICATIONS

    In addition to the qualifications set forth in the job standards, the candidate must have:

    • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team;
    • Very good organizational skills and the ability to work independently and be proactive;
    • Proven strong secretarial and administrative skills.  Sound knowledge of the Fund's organization, practices, and procedures is an advantage;
    • Strong technical skills. Advanced or intermediate level knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) is essential. Proficiency in HRPROD/FINPROD, DM5, SharePoint, CDMAP and other software used in ICD would be highly desirable, and interest in learning CDMAP and ICD systems (Moodle, CDR, and others) to become proficient is a must.
    • Excellent command of English, in both oral and written communications is a requirement. Proficiency in Arabic, Chinese, French, or Spanish (written and spoken) would be highly desirable;
    • Willingness to work occasionally overtime on short notice, as needed.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of a high school diploma, or equivalent, supplemented by a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience, is required. No previous experience would be required for those who have completed a university degree. 

    This is a one-year contractual appointment. Contractual appointments at the IMF are renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, pending incumbent's performance, budget availability and continuous business need.

    Only candidates who are currently residing in the Washington DC metro area will be considered. ​

    Only candidates that have passed the IMF Staff Assistant online exam in the past 12 months will be considered.
