Administrative Educator | Clinical Education, Full-Time

Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates educational activities for the hospital staff. Collaborates with unit directors and staff to assess learning needs and competency gaps.  Provides educational opportunities that benefit nurses and other clinicians at all stages of their career development.  Coordinates and participates in orientation programs. Responsible for the overall operations of the Clinical Education Department including, but not limited to attending organizational meetings, policy and procedure development, payroll, staffing, departmental statistics, productivity reporting, mandated employee training and competencies, recruiting and hiring of new employees and personnel issues. Responds to the changes in nursing develops programs to support those changes.  Ensures the educational programs are congruent with the organization’s mission, vision, and values.  Teaches content as needed and/or assigned to facilitate and evaluate safe and evidence based practices. Serves as the Accredited Provider Program Director for the Accredited Provider Unit through American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) for continuing education. Demonstrates strong knowledge of healthcare standards and regulations to meet related training needs.  Collaborates with unit directors to select and evaluate unit preceptors.  Research and recommend purchase(s) for educational materials. Coordinates and/or collaborates with external learning institutions as they utilize the hospital as a clinical teaching site. Seeks opportunities to develop staff.  Serves as role model for education and professional nursing and clinician practice.

Requirements

Master’s degree required in Nursing, Adult Education or other appropriate field.  Current Ohio RN license. Three (3) to five (5) years of recent clinical experience.  Recent teaching experience with adult learners.  Expertise in clinical skills, computer skills, adult education and other fields as appropriate. 

Licensed as an RN in the state of Ohio. Completes twenty-four (24) contact hours of approved CE during each two (2) years licensure renewal period consistent with requirements of Ohio Board of Nursing.  Must maintain continuous certification in American Heart Association’s BLS; attains American Heart Association ACLS, and American Heart Association PALS, within six (6) months of employment and maintains continuous certification.
