Job Description

Responsibilities:

Norton Healthcare invites you to apply for our Administrative Fellowship Program within System Services. This program is designed for postgraduate students looking to explore meaningful careers in healthcare administration. This two-year program puts you on a path for significant career growth through performance excellence projects, strategic planning and leadership exposure. This Fellowship exposes the Fellow to the entire Norton Healthcare System, which includes nine hospitals and a comprehensive employed medical group.

 

You must be currently enrolled or have already completed a master’s degree program to be considered for the Fellowship Program.  Application deadline is Friday, October 2nd, 2026

 

Important Dates*:

  • August 25th: Application period opens
  • October 2nd: Application period closes
  • August 26th- October 2nd: Initial phone interviews will be conducted
  • September 28th - October 9th: Virtual interviews with admin fellow team
  • October 21st & 22nd : In-person interviews with finalists in Louisville, KY
  • October 23rd: Offer extended
  • Spring/Summer 2027: Administrative Fellowship start date

Key Fellowship Attributes:

  • Individualized professional and leadership development driven by completion of a detailed leadership development plan
  • Completion of high-level rotations in areas spanning the Norton Healthcare system
  • Networking opportunities to develop professional relationships with senior leaders in your area of interest
  • Develop leadership experience by interviewing, organizing, mentoring and leading interns during the Norton Healthcare Summer Internship Program, as well as recruitment for the Norton Healthcare Administrative Fellowship Program

The System Services Fellowship track allows for immersion in large-scale, high-impact projects that directly benefit the organization. Fellows gain exposure to leadership and are directly involved in executive meetings, initiatives and other strategic matters that offer a better understanding of the issues, challenges and opportunities facing a large health care system.

 

Year 1 Experience

  • Project work alongside the Performance Excellence Team, with focus on improving clinical outcomes and quality measures
  • Opportunities to develop interpersonal, basic operational and leadership development skills with rotating through select clinical and business support departments across the system
  • Training in Norton Healthcare's problem solving methodology (DMAIC: Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) and leading a strategic project as part of this training from concept to Control

Year 2 Experience

  • Continued development of advanced leadership skills with longer rotations through both inpatient and outpatient settings with operational oversight in those areas
  • Two large-scale projects selected by the members of Norton Healthcare’s leadership team
  • Mentorship from their assigned executive mentor as well as other key leaders in the system

Qualifications:

Required:

  • One year in a business setting
  • Master Degree or completion of all Master Degree academic work and in a program that requires completion of a fellowship for degree conferral.

Desired:

  • One year in a healthcare setting
