Primary Purpose: The Administrative Intern position is designed to provide aspiring campus leaders with hands-on experience in school administration while supporting the effective daily operations of a campus. This role offers opportunities to develop leadership skills, gain exposure to campus-level decision-making, and assist the principal in promoting a safe, productive, and student-centered learning environment. The intern will engage in a variety of administrative tasks and responsibilities to prepare for a future role as an assistant principal.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field
- Valid Teacher Certification
- Master's degree from an accredited college or university preferred or in progress
- Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate preferred or in progress
- Certified Texas Teacher Support and Evaluation System (T-TESS) appraiser preferred or in progress
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Ability to coordinate campus support operations
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
- Ability to build effective relationships and create positive rapport with stakeholders
- Ability to interpret data
Experience:
- Minimum of three years experience as a classroom teacher
- Leadership experience, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Leadership and Administrative Support
- Assist the principal in providing instructional leadership and managing campus operations
- Address and manage student disciplinary issues in collaboration with teachers and the principal
- Support implementation of school policies, procedures, and emergency operations
- Represent the administration in meetings, committees, and school events
Instructional Support and Teacher Collaboration
- Observe classrooms and provide feedback in collaboration with instructional leaders
- Assist in planning and delivering professional development
- Help monitor instructional programs for alignment with district curriculum and state standards
- Support teacher growth through coaching and data conversations
Student and Parent Engagement
- Address student concerns in collaboration with teachers and counselors
- Foster strong parent and community relationships
- Participate in parent conferences, community events, and outreach efforts
Operational and Organizational Management
- Assist with campus scheduling, duty rosters, and testing coordination
- Support with campus events, assemblies, and student activities
- Analyze student performance data and assist with school improvement planning
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and district requirements
Project and Resource Coordination
- Lead or support assigned projects aligned with campus goals
- Assist in managing resources, budget needs, and material distribution
- Coordinate logistics for testing, parent meetings, and professional development days
Other
- Provide coverage for the principal or assistant principal as needed
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Supervisory Responsibilities: Provide supervision and administrative coverage while the Principal and Assistant Principal are completing other assignments and/or responsibilities.
