The Coordinator is responsible for the smooth and effective operations of the clerical, billing, admission/registration, patient scheduling aspects of the Wound Clinic. Financial tracking of revenues is an important aspect of the position. The role of the Coordinator is to assist the nursing staff by providing:
Efficient clerical and other duties under the direction of the Clinical Director.
Administrative services necessary for the care of the patient, and in support of the mission of this facility.
Assists in providing care to the patients as directed.
Be the point-of-contact for all physician offices referring patients to the Wound Care Clinic; contacting the patient and scheduling the appointment, obtaining medical records prior to patient appointment and compiling all information into the new patient medical record.
Coordinate all outgoing consults and referrals.
Coordinate scheduling functions for established medical and wound care patients for follow ups, MRI/PET/CT, HBO, testing and prior authorization.
Coordinate reviews for any pre-testing preparation with pts, faxes appropriate documentation and/or orders etc. to receiving department or facility.
Coordinate obtaining precertification or preauthorization as required by insurance companies.
Properly documents in Meditech and iHeal any pertinent information into appointment notes or precept numbers etc.
Notifies nursing staff, PAS and medical records of same day and next day add-ons.
Checks communication devices regularly (voice mail, email, qcl) as to provide timely responses daily.
What qualifications you will need:
Associate Degree in Business Administration/Systems preferred
Previous Office manager experience coding responsibilities preferred
Computer literacy required
Positive interpersonal relationship skills required
A minimum of three years general secretarial work required with experience in the medical field
Previous experience with Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel)
