Who we are and what we do:

The mission of the State Fire Marshals Office (SFMO) is to prevent the loss of life and property due to fire.

How you make a difference in this role:

The Community Risk Reduction Coordinators (ASA4) are critical and highly visible employees that represent the State Fire Marshals Office to partners across the state and country. These positions are responsible for managing important projects and campaigns to reduce the loss of life and property from fire.

Job Overview:

The Education & Outreach section provides community risk reduction analysis and valuable fire prevention resources to the general public and the fire service. Through the analysis of fire incident data, this section develops strategies to reduce fire loss in communities throughout the state. This section manages the Tennessee Fire Incident Reporting System (TFIRS), fire department recognition, Get Alarmed, TN!, the state's fire fatality database, the Close The Door campaign, the Annual Fire Loss Symposium, Fire Prevention Week, the Fire Prevention Week Poster Contest, and other programs.

Key Responsibilities:

The Community Risk Reduction Coordinator coordinates with fire departments throughout the State of Tennessee about programs, assists with smoke alarm canvassing activities and coordinating local fire prevention and safety events, works with fire service leaders to expand the State Fire Marshals Offices Statewide Community Risk Reduction Plan. This position is also responsible for using Tennessee specific data to create fire safety educational messages, reports, and publications and assists with the build-out and maintenance of the FDTN application, including creating and managing a fire department equipment exchange.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in communications, public relations, computer science, or statistics from an accredited college or university is preferred. Fire industry experience is preferable. Community outreach experience is preferable. Experience in plan or program development, communication and interpersonal skills, coordination skills, data analysis.
