Overview

At Larimer County Department of Human Services, we strive to be responsive, provide timely resources in partnership with our community so individuals and families are healthy, supported, and safe. We are seeking a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic staff member to join our Benefits and Community Support Division as an Administrative Specialist supporting both our Phone Team and Application Initiation Team.

The Administrative Specialist will answer basic client questions regarding assistance programs (Food Assistance, Medicaid, etc.) over the phone and prepare and initiate benefits applications daily. This dual role involves high-volume customer service, multitasking across systems, and processing, routing, and uploading various documents while maintaining a highly structured schedule with breaks and lunches.

The expected starting salary for this position is $23.5200/hour. New hires must complete 7 weeks of onsite and virtual training before becoming eligible for a hybrid work arrangement.

Responsibilities

What youll be doing:

  • Providing excellent customer service to clients over a high-volume phone line, delivering accurate information about assistance programs like Food Assistance and Medicaid.
  • Interpreting county and departmental policies, rules, and regulations in response to inquiries.
  • Conducting necessary research to resolve inquiries.
  • Routing complex inquiries or documents appropriately, ensuring they reach the correct specialized teams.
  • Accepting and processing forms, reports, applications, and legal documents in accordance with procedural requirements.
  • Composing and preparing replies to a variety of communications involving established policies or standard practices.
  • Entering and maintaining data in computer systems and databases, proofing for errors, and running reports as needed.
  • Collaborating with team members to manage high-volume workflows and maintain a structured schedule to meet timeliness requirements.

Qualifications

All candidates will be screened for the following required minimum qualifications. Any candidate who does not meet all of the qualifications listed as required will be eliminated from the process.

Administrative Specialist I: 23.5200/hr - $27.0829/hr

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar office administrative duties and responsibilities required.

Administrative Specialist II: $24.0788/hr - $28.8946/hr

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • One (1) year experience as an Administrative Specialist I or two (2) years of experience in a directly related field or in the performance of similar office administrative duties and responsibilities required.
