Administrative Specialist III - Circuit Clerk
Starting Salary: $20.8534/hour
Position Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am- 4:30pm; occasional overtime may be required

PositionSummary

Under general supervision performs a variety of responsibletasks involved in providing clerical support to court users. Duties include butare not limited to reviewing/processing electronically filed court documents;maintaining records in filing systems databases or spreadsheets; answering avariety of inquiries by telephone or in person. Duties/assignments areperformed within established parameters and require the application ofestablished rules and regulations. Work is reviewed by a supervisor periodicallyfor the quality efficiency and effectiveness of work performed.

EssentialDuties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews/processes electronically filed court documents
  • Establishes compiles maintains and retrieves specialtycomputer and/or hard copy files or records; takes appropriate actions relatedto files and re-files as needed
  • Data entry
  • Interacts in person and by telephone with the public, attorneys, county staff, and staff of other jurisdictions
  • Assists self-represented litigants with electronic filing
  • Pulls court dockets Files paper documents
  • Processes copy requests
  • Performs calculations, receipt money
  • Performs related work as assigned
  • Regular and prompt attendance
KnowledgeSkills and Abilities
  • Knowledge of English composition spelling and grammar
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and writteninstructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and inwriting
  • Ability to interact with the public and provide informationin a polite and efficient manner both in person and on the telephone
  • Ability to learn rules and procedures and to apply themcorrectly in varying circumstances Ability to work with and maintainconfidential information
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Skill in alphabetical and/or numerical filing
  • Skill in keyboarding approximately 45 words per minute
  • Ability to quickly and accurately make mathematicalcalculations
  • Legible handwriting
  • Knowledge of and experience with MS Office (Microsoft WordExcel Outlook)
RequiredQualifications
  • High school graduation or possession of a GED Certificateincluding or supplemented with course work in general clerical or officeprocedures; Experience (1 - 2 years) in a general clerical or customer servicework related to the functions of the position OR any equivalent combination ofeducation and experience that would provide the above noted knowledge skillsand abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • The successful candidate must be able to work well with avariety of individuals; have exceptional organizational skills; be detailedoriented; be capable of working independently and meeting deadlines; beself-motivated; able to work with confidential information in an environment ofsecurity and trust.
Pre-employmentTesting
  • May be required to complete the Circuit Clerk's ClericalExam and keyboarding test
  • Must pass a pre-employment background investigation
PhysicalAttributes/Demands

Sit for extended periods of time. The employee is requiredto walk or move up to 200 feet from primary desk. The employee is occasionallyrequired to stand, and stoop kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently liftand/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision anddistance vision.

WorkEnvironment

General indoor office environment. Operation of personalcomputer phone copier scanner and other general office equipment required on afrequent basis.
