ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST III

Provides secretarial/administrative support to management and/or staff of assigned department/division; relieves management staff of routine administrative tasks; screens telephone calls, mail, and other communications and initiates appropriate action/response; records dictation; types, composes, edits, or proofreads correspondence on behalf of management staff; records and/or transcribes correspondence, statements, minutes, or other information; keeps management informed of significant matters, messages, documentation, or other information. Serves as liaison between the assigned department/division and other departments/divisions, staff members, County officials, the public, community leaders, outside agencies, or other individuals or organizations; distributes and receives routine and complex information; interacts with various officials and dignitaries involving sensitive client relations; distributes information and documentation to division/department as appropriate. Maintains calendar/schedule of activities for the assigned manager and department/division; schedules and confirms appointments, meetings, interviews, conferences, training activities, or other activities; coordinates travel arrangements, accommodations, conference registrations, or other travel related plans as required; updates calendar on a regular basis; and notifies parties involved of changes. Performs customer service; provides information and assistance regarding department/division services, activities, procedures, fees, or other issues; distributes forms/documentation as requested; responds to routine and complex questions or complaints; research problems/complaints; and initiates problem resolution. Performs other related duties as required. Associate degree in administrative services, business or related field; supplemented by two years of experience providing routine administrative/clerical support in area of assignment; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina Driver"s License. Must be available to work some evenings until 6:30 p.m. Transcription a must.
