Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to organize and participate in projects and programs, maintains database records, and disseminates information. Analyzes data, and recommends a plan of action for improving services. Provides staff support to task forces, advisory groups, committees and programs.

This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.

  • Evaluates policies, procedures, programs and services and recommends modifications.
  • Coordinates the preparation and adoption of regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the department budget, and contacts vendors for services.
  • Prepares and disseminates newsletters, project and program brochures and media, and participates in developing program policies and procedures.
  • Analyzes statistical data, prepares narrative reports and correspondence, and recommends a plan of action for improving services.
  • Researches materials, collects data, and maintains database records to track projects and generate reports.
  • Communicates with other agencies and coordinates projects, office functions and departmental activities.
  • Attends meetings to conduct presentations and to organize programs, projects and activities with other agencies or departments to provide information and publicize available services.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of facilities and logistical issues for meetings, projects and events.
  • Provides technical assistance and instruction concerning department activities, projects and programs, and to explain procedures and operations.

Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Education, Social Science or related discipline.
  • Two (2) years of office administrative support, customer service, or public relations experience.
  • EQUIVALENCY: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.

  • Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.
