Description

Come work for Concord Police Department! Looking for a detail oriented administrative support professional who understands this is a 7 day operation of supporting our officers, dispatchers as well as administrative and command staff. We have a need for a flexible individual who is willing to work two day shifts and two evening shifts. Three 8 hour shifts can also be considered. This will be an exicting time to join the department as we prepare to move into a new state of the art facility!

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $22.56 to $24.86 (top of range $30.30)

JOB SUMMARY:

Performs administrative and clerical work of moderate difficulty, involving typing, filing, and assisting the public with inquiries, complaints, and problem resolution. An individual in this classification may be required to compile information from a variety of sources and prepare reports, track documents, and research answers to questions related to the area of assignment.

Examples of Duties

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (All responsibilities may not be performed by all incumbents.)

Answers multi-line telephone system; directs and transfers calls to proper destinations; interacts with the public; enters and retrieves information via computer; receives payment of parking violation fines; issues receipts.

Performs data entry of parking tickets.

Retrieves messages, overnight parking lists, and reports from the dispatch center, and disseminates to officers message board, records department, and other divisions.

Maintains cash drawer for parking unit; provides change to public for payment of parking violation fines.

Files parking control correspondence, motor vehicle records, and notices.

Scans all documents into IMC computer system.

Enters information regarding restraining orders; verifies the validity of temporary orders; purges orders that have expired.

Authorizes the legality of listings entered into the National Crime Information Center; expunges cancellations.

Reviews and corrects pending warrants in the IMC computer system.

Maintains and updates database to ensure accurate and balanced record keeping.

Assists in the processing of department payroll.

Greets visitors and responds to questions and requests.

Collects money; enters daily cash received; prepares and completes bank deposits.

Processes insurance requests for accidents and incidents.

Creates calls and reports for lost, stolen, and damaged property under one thousand dollars.

Creates pistol permits and enters permits into system.

Provides information regarding various codes and ordinances related to parking, police policies, procedures, and press releases.

Enters vehicle citation warnings.

Formats and types letters, forms, and memoranda.

Prepares documents for archiving.

Maintains and logs incoming and outgoing correspondence.

Prepares, collates, copies, and disseminates morning reports for investigation and prosecution.

Processes applications for games of chance; collects fees and prepares licenses.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Typical Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: (Dependent on area of assignment)

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or GED and two years of clerical experience which involved interacting with the public to disseminate information, or

Any combination of education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities required for the job.

Depending on area of assignment may be required to pass psychological examinations.

Licenses and Certifications: (depending upon area of assignment)

S.P.O.T.S. Operator.

Permanent Part-Time Employees

Permanent Part-Time Employees are eligible for the following benefits:

Income Protection Plan

The Income Protection Plan is provided at no cost and includes a pro-rated sick leave program, Short-Term Disability Insurance, and Long-Term Disability Insurance.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs)

FSAs can be set up for Health or Dental Care expenses and/or Dependent Care expenses, allowing an employee to set aside a predetermined amount of money on a pre-tax basis and be reimbursed for eligible expenses under the IRS code.

Annual (Vacation) Leave

Permanent Part-Time Employees accrue leave on a pro-rated basis. Annual leave cannot be used during an employees first six months of employment. The Personnel Rules & Regulations, departmental approval procedures, and/or any applicable collective bargaining agreement should be referred to for details.

Paid Holidays

Permanent Part-Time Employees are compensated 4 hours of holiday pay (half the compensation of a full-time employee) on City observed holidays. Subject to the terms of applicable collective bargaining agreements and/or the Personnel Rules and Regulations, employees generally observe 12.5 paid holidays each year.

NH Paid Family & Medical Leave (NH PFML)

Provides a 60% wage replacement (up to the social security wage cap) for up to six weeks per year (after an initial 7-day elimination period) for absences from work for covered common life events such as:

  • An employee's own serious health condition when disability coverage does not apply
  • An employee to bond with a child during the first year of birth, including placement for adoption or fostering
  • An employee to care for a family m ember with a serious health condition
  • Any qualifying urgent demand or need arising out of the fact that the employee's spouse, child or parent is a covered military member on covered active duty
  • An employee to care for a covered service member with a serious injury or illness if the employee is the service member's spouse, child, parent or next of kin

NH PFML will run concurrently with the federal Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) when the employee qualifies for both programs. If the employee is eligible for workers compensation, they will not qualify for PFML benefits for this same event. If the employee qualifies for Short-Term Disability, they will not qualify for PFML benefits for the same days absent. This leave can be used intermittently.

Merit Pay Plan

Permanent Part-Time Employees are eligible for a merit pay increase, typically one step on the applicable wage schedule, upon satisfactory completion of their probationary period and annually thereafter (again subject to satisfactory performance).

Health/Dental Insurance

Permanent Part-Time Employees may purchase Health and/or Dental Insurance at their own expense. Rates and further details may be obtained by contacting the Human Resources Department at (603) 225-8535.

Employee Perks

Family Pool Pass for City Employees, Non-Concord Residents

Go to the Parks and Recreation office at 14 Canterbury Rd, show your work badge or picture id. This is a family pass but you must be the one to sign up initially. Parks and Recreation will confirm current employment on a roster. You will receive a specific color employee pass that you will use to gain entrance at all open City Pools and the Splash Pad.

Beaver Meadow Golf Course Guest of Member Rate

Employees will need to register with the Proshop to obtain a household account. Every employee will need photo ID, proof of employment (badge or paystub) and email address. Once they have completed that task, they will check in through our normal processes and receive the employee rate.

Concord Public Library Card for City Employees, Non-residents

Employees will need to go to any of the three branches to obtain a non- resident library card. You will need to bring photo identification and your name will be checked against the active employee roster. Once confirmed, your Concord Public Library card application will grant you full library usage while employed. The pass must be renewed and will be set to expire each August 31st of the current year.
