Position Information

New Hanover County is looking for an Administrative Technician to join our fast-paced, vehicle maintenance and repair shop in the Facilities Management Department (Vehicle Management Division).

New Hanover Countys Facilities Management department oversees the maintenance and upkeep of all county owned buildings and facilities as well as energy sustainability through our utility management program. We are a dynamic team of trades professionals, custodians, supervisors and administrative staff who work every day to make our facilities the best in North Carolina. Ideal candidates for the Facilities Management department should possess a strong work ethic, have the ability to prioritize schedules, and a true desire to serve the employees and citizens of New Hanover County.

Responsibilities for this role include:

  • Serve as the office receptionist by answering and directing calls, greeting patrons and providing information.
  • Issues and maintains fuel cards and employee pin numbers for county vehicles.
  • Processing payroll
  • Processing accounts payables & credits
  • Preparing requisitions and other documents and forms
  • Create work order requests
  • Compiling information and creating reports
  • Coordinating office schedules and reservations
  • Provides back-up support to materials control specialist to include ordering supplies, maintaining inventory records, storing/retrieving materials, receiving/inspecting packages received, shipping/returning items and equipment for repair, and performing inventory checks.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level
  • Performs work during emergency/disaster situations.

Additional duties include preparing documents and forms which includes composing and typing correspondence, processing accounts payables, work order requests, requisitions, and compiling information and creating reports; coordinating office schedules and reservations; Facilities Management/Vehicle Management; performing other duties of a similar nature or level and performing work during emergency/disaster situations.

7:30 AM - 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday.

Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.

Salary Information:

The hiring salary for this position starts at $36,325.00 annually plus a competitive benefits package. Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) and two years of clerical, data entry, administrative support or related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.

Licenses/Certifications

  • Valid Drivers License (from any state) and good driving record required at time of application.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License required by first date of employment with good driving record.
