The Admission Counselor is the primary contact person between the prospective student and Tulane University's Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (WSPH). The counselor makes frequent public presentations to these groups describing Tulane University's Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, its programs, and its services. Admission Counselors regularly conduct individual meetings with prospective students.
An Admission Counselor at Tulane WSPH is expected to independently research, plan, coordinate, schedule, execute, and evaluate prospective student visitation and recruitment programs in areas assigned by the Assistant Dean of Enrollment Management and Admissions/ Director of Admissions, seeking guidance only when necessary. Each admissions counselor is also responsible for processing all applications to degree programs, as well as all facets of student recruitment including, but not limited to: planning, coordinating, and hosting virtual and in-person recruitment events, virtual and in-person admitted students' events and campus visits, coordination of off-campus events, and travel to recruitment events and conferences. Admissions counselors are also responsible for staffing office hours uptown, as well as promoting the Accelerated Master's Program to TU undergraduate students. The Admission Counselor will update the admissions website(s) as needed, and contribute content to existing social media platforms, supervising operations with staff and student workers on specific projects, conducting market research, and assisting prospective students with their applications.
Bachelor's Degree with 1 year of directly related experience
OR
High School Diploma (or Equivalent) with 7 years of directly related experience
Strong organizational and analytical skills and excellent attention to detail.
Superior interpersonal and public speaking skills.
Highly developed written and oral communication skills. Capable of presenting Tulane University WSPH in a favorable light with individuals, small groups, and large groups.
An appreciation for the cyclical nature of admission work and the flexibility to handle a variety of duties and projects throughout the day as well as throughout the year.
Computer literacy is important to the efficient management of a quantity of work.
Ability to work effectively with diverse constituencies, including faculty, academic deans, and senior administrators/program managers, admission staff members, students, student ambassadors/current students, and alumni.
