Position Summary
The Admission Counselor is responsible for the recruitment, counseling, and admission of prospective students to Luther College. This position manages recruitment efforts within an assigned geographic territory and serves as a primary point of contact for prospective students and their families, school counselors, and community partners throughout the college search process.
The Admission counselor develops and executes a territory recruitment plan under the direction of senior staff, evaluates applications for admission, meets with individual students, presents to groups, communicates proactively with prospective students, and participates in campus visit programs. This position also serves as liaison to select campus partners/departments and collaborates on strategic recruitment projects.
Extensive travel is required over both fall and spring recruitment seasons. Occasional overnight and weekend travel is required throughout the year.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE and SKILLS:
Education: Bachelor's degree in any major required. Must have strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills. Familiarity with liberal arts colleges and fluency in a second language are desirable.
Experience: One year of relevant experience preferred. Experience in sales, marketing, communication, counseling, or higher education is a plus. Strong written, and verbal skills. Must be enthusiastic, goal-oriented, self-motivated, team-oriented, and capable of representing Luther energetically and positively to prospective students and their parents. Sense of humor is desirable. Candidates must have a valid driver"s license and a driving record that will enable them to be insured through the college.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires traveling on a regular basis throughout the year. Occasional overnight and weekend travel is required throughout the year. When in the office: sedentary work. Sitting, standing, and walking in well-lighted and well-ventilated office involved.
