Position Summary:

This temporary position provides seasonal support for undergraduate recruitment and application review during peak admission cycles. Serve as a representative of the University of Rhode Island by recruiting prospective students through on- and off-campus recruitment activities and by reviewing undergraduate applications for admission. Evaluate applicants in accordance with university admission policies and make admission decisions.

Duties and Responsibilities

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Represent the University at high school visits, college fairs, and recruitment events throughout assigned territories.

Conduct presentations and communicate admission requirements, academic programs, and student opportunities to prospective students, families, and school counselors.

Review undergraduate applications and supporting credentials to determine admission decisions in accordance with university policies and established review guidelines.

Travel and work evenings and weekends as required to support recruitment activities.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform additional duties as required.

LICENSES, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Personal computers, printers; word processing, database management and spreadsheet software.

Required Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  1. Bachelor's degree.

  2. Demonstrated verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.

  3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

  4. Demonstrated customer service skills.

  5. Demonstrated ability to evaluate information and make sound decisions.

  6. Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.

  7. Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office or comparable software applications.

  8. Demonstrated ability to lift and transport recruitment materials weighing up to 35 pounds.

  9. Willingness to travel extensively and work evenings and weekends as required.

Preferred Qualifications Environmental Conditions

The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
