JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for accurately scheduling surgical cases using computer software in accordance with scheduling guidelines. This role requires strong written and verbal communication skills, computer proficiency, and required knowledge of medical terminology. This individual will assist in collecting all deposits due from each patient in a caring and effective manner. This individual will assist in coordinating the location of patients and keeping family and other interested parties informed. Assist in the admissions of patients. Performs pre op chart preparation for visits prior to admission. This individual has the ability to function independently and to work cooperatively with other staff members. The position supports management and office staff to ensure smooth departmental workflow including, but not limited to, daily administrative duties such as sorting mail, answering and routing calls, filing, copying, document preparation, written and electronic correspondence, data entry, and related clerical tasks. Responsible for verifying assigned patient insurance benefits in a timely manner. Maintains optimal patient, referring physician, and insurance company
satisfaction. Required fluent computer knowledge which includes but not limited to Microsoft products.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School graduate or certificate of equivalency
Licensure: None
Experience: Two or more years experience in health care setting with 1-2 years’ experience in healthcare insurance billing and
verification, collections, and authorizations. Knowledge of medical terminology. Work experience with a PC
workstation and applications
Skills: A detail and service-oriented individual who possesses excellent customer service, insurance verification knowledge, solving utilization problems. Demonstrates ability to use computer-scheduling programs to efficiently schedule surgical cases and verify insurance. Skill in written and verbal communication, document preparation, Microsoft product proficiency, and customer relations.
Works in busy office setting with frequent interruptions and multiple simultaneous demands by physicians, co-workers and other departments. Much sitting required with some stooping or bending. Is required to spend a large amount of time utilizing computers and other office equipment. Required to work flexible schedule if necessary.
