POSITION OVERVIEW

The Admissions Coordinator will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic medical and financial arrangements of incoming patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides appropriate orientation to program aspects post admission including documentation and data input into computer system. • Ensures financial eligibility setup • Assures prompt responses to patient needs reviews and maintains all documents and departmental logs and ensures fair distribution of patients to physicians. • Provides telephone and in-person assessments and initial contact with referral sources and potential patients. • Coordinates the referral and intake process. • Determines appropriate level of care and maintains communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. • Collects and analyzes data related to departmental performance indicators. • Assists with admission searches, safety searches, and personal belongings as needed. • Assists counselors and other senior program staff in crisis intervention as needed.

STATE SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES (if applicable)

QUALIFICATION

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

• Bachelors degree in psychology or related field OR Associate degree with at least 1 year of experience in similar position OR High School diploma with at least 2 years in a similar position. • CADC or LPCLSC required. • Experience working in admissions in a Behavioral Health and/or substance abuse service will be strongly preferred. • Knowledge of HIPAA policies and procedures. • Proficient with Microsoft Office. • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

TRAVEL

Travel is not required for this position.

Former patients may not be hired at the same location where they were treated until a minimum of one year has elapsed since the completion of their treatment at that location. Former patients may be considered for employment at other RCA locations within a year after treatment. This consideration will be subject to the standard hiring process and must not compromise ethical standards, patient care, or the reputation of RCA.
