    Job Description


     GENERAL PURPOSE

    Responsible for coordinating the admissions process for all residents/patients, including but not limited to building and maintaining relationships with residents and their families, assisting with facility tours, and compiling and completing admissions paperwork.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS 


    • Assist in interviewing residents and their families to obtain required information and ensure all required documentation, including signatures, are obtained. 
    • Maintain a working knowledge of the facility rates, procedures, privileges, restrictions, etc. and communicate as directed with residents and their families as appropriate. 
    • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the facility and any processes or procedures that impact residents. 
    • Work with departmental peers to ensure a smooth and efficient admissions process.
    • Coordinate and prepare all required paperwork, ensuring that it is always up to date with the latest guidance and regulations.
    • Develop and maintain effective inter-departmental relationships. 
    • Coordinate new and/or returning resident intake paperwork and ensure that necessary paperwork is sent to the appropriate department. 
    • Make recommendations to the Admissions Director to help develop internal processes to provide incoming residents with a seamless transition.
    • Assist in coordination for admissions related events.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of all local, state, and federal regulations as well as working knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations governing admissions and discharge requirements of health care facilities. 
    • Provide recommendations and perspective for departmental employment actions, including but not limited to hiring, performance management, promotions, etc.
    • Communicate feedback and comments from residents and their families to the Admissions Director as appropriate. 
    • Attend and participate in in-service trainings including annual OSHA and CDC in-service training programs.
    • Participate in continuous improvement activities.
    • Other duties as assigned.


    QUALIFICATIONS


    • High School Diploma or its equivalent is required.
    • 1 year of administrative experience highly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required. 
    • Maintain a demonstratable knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal regulations that could impact the department including HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, etc.
    • Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and an independent manner. 
    • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a level necessary to accomplish this job.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and multi-tasking skills required. 
    • Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Related administrative experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.
    • Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical exam, if required. This requirement also includes drug screening, criminal background investigation, and reference inquiry.


    Physical and Sensory requirements (with or without the aid of mechanical devices): Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine-hand coordination, pushing and pulling; ability to communicate with residents; ability to distinguish smells and temperatures; ability to read and write; and ability to remain calm under emergency situations and while dealing with multiple tasks.
