General Description:

The Admissions Coordinator plays a vital role in supporting the recruitment, evaluation, and enrollment of prospective students. This position provides advisors with updated application information to ensure a seamless admissions process while upholding the mission and values of the university. The Admissions Coordinator supports the operational effectiveness of the nursing admissions office by managing application workflows, maintaining data integrity within admissions systems, and coordinating communications and events that support initiatives. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational and communication skills, exercises sound judgment in handling sensitive information, and thrives in a fast paced, service oriented environment. A commitment to fostering an inclusive community, and aligning daily work with the university’s mission, values, and strategic enrollment priorities is essential to success in this role. This position reports to the Associate Director of Admission, Advising, & Student Support.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage the admissions process from inquiry through enrollment.
  • Review and process applications and supporting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update applicant records in the university’s information system.
  • Communicate admissions decisions and provide guidance on next steps.
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, administrative staff and other nursing staff.
  • Collaborate with supervisor to maintain departmental standards.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional policies and accreditation standards.
  • Generate reports and track admissions data to support enrollment goals.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support student success.
  • Document any new changes to existing processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to student records and privacy (e.g., FERPA).
  • General awareness of academic program structures, degree requirements, and university policies.
  • Understanding of higher education admissions processes, recruitment strategies, and enrollment management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, and students in a positive, helpful and cooperative working relationship.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with PC or Mac platforms with skill in MS Office and the ability to learn additional software programs.
  • Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.
  • Ability to provide a high level of customer service with professionalism, empathy, and cultural competence.


Required Qualifications:

  • 2 years of related experience (ex. healthcare, technology support, etc.). Education may substitute for some experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Finalist candidates must successfully complete pre-employment background checks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with CRM systems (e.g., Slate, Banner).
  • Familiarity with higher education admissions processes.
  • Experience working in a private or faith-based institution.
