POSITION SUMMARY

Vanguard University is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Admissions Counselor to join our Graduate and Professional Education Enrollment team. As an Admissions Counselor, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students through the admissions process and enrolling adult learners into our diverse range of graduate and professional programs. Your primary focus will be on creating an excellent customer care experience for the prospective students, walking them through the enrollment process, and helping them envision how our programs can empower them to achieve their academic and professional aspirations. This position reports directly to the Director of Admissions and Recruitment.

POSITION DUTIES

  • University Engagement & Collaboration
    • Reflect and promote the mission, vision, and identity of Vanguard University.
    • Participate in the university community building partnerships with key stakeholders across the various schools, departments, and support systems.
  • Prospective Student Engagement & Relationship Building
    • Build meaningful relationships with prospective students through various communication channels, such as phone calls, emails, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions.
    • Actively listen to prospective students' concerns, goals, and aspirations.
    • Help to identify their individual motivations, challenges, goals.
    • Tailor program information and resources to address specific needs and interests that demonstrate a genuine commitment to their success.
  • Holistic Enrollment Support
    • Collaborate with other members of the Graduate Enrollment Team to provide a seamless and holistic enrollment experience.
    • Partner with recruitment coordinators, academic advisors, financial aid representatives, and other stakeholders to ensure that each student's journey is supported from initial inquiry to enrollment.
  • Program Knowledge
    • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of our graduate and professional programs, curriculum, and unique features.
    • Articulate how each program aligns with the diverse needs of adult learners and equips them with the skills needed to excel in their chosen fields.
  • Admissions Support
    • Provide comprehensive support to prospective students regarding the admissions process, application requirements, deadlines, and necessary documents.
    • Assist prospective students in completing their application materials.
    • Offer clear and accurate information to ensure a smooth application experience and provide feedback to help showcase their qualifications effectively.
  • Prospect & CRM Management
    • Maintain accurate and organized records of interactions and admissions documents with prospective students using CRM systems.
    • Provide regular updates on prospective student progress and engagement to the admissions team.
  • Recruitment Events & Outreach
    • Participate in off-site, virtual, and on-campus recruitment events, open houses, information sessions, and workshops to engage with prospective students and provide them with insights into our programs and student experience.
  • Professional Development & Continuous Improvement
    • Stay up to date with industry trends, program updates, and best practices in adult student enrollment.
    • Proactively seek opportunities for professional development to enhance counseling skills.
    • Other duties as assigned including mandatory annual participation in Univeristy Commencement ceremonies. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • One year of exeperience with admissions, enrollment, or advising, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • Ability to learn admissions, enrollment, and customer care principles in alignment with the role.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to connect with adult learners from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Empathetic listener who can understand and address individual needs and concerns effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with exceptional time management skills that can work autonomously or with a team.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for events and outreach efforts.
  • Vibrant belief in Jesus Christ with ample evidence of personal discipleship.
  • Reflect, articulate, and promote the mission, vision, and identity of the University.

Preferred

  • Two or more years of experience in admissions, enrollment, or advising in a higher education setting.
  • Working knowledge of Canva or other collateral building platforms.
  • Knowledge of how to effectively support adult learners and university offices.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in CRM systems and Microsoft Office Applicaitons. 

SALARY

This is a non-exempt, full-time, benefit-eligible position. Expected Pay Range: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour

Placement within the salary range is commensurate upon education and experience. Posted salary range reflects anticipated hiring scale for the position. Vanguard University also offers a very competitive and generous benefits package.
