    Job Description

Are you ready to make a measurable difference in someone's life on day one of their recovery? Veterans Inc. is seeking a high-energy, detail-oriented professional to join our clinical team. In this fast-paced role, you will streamline our intake process, ensure compliance, and provide immediate support to individuals entering our program. You are the vital link that bridges administrative efficiency with compassionate, immediate patient engagement.

We are seeking a dedicated Admissions Counselor to join our team and primarily support new patients entering the program. In this role, you will provide critical day-one support by managing the initial intake process, completing required compliance documentation, and gathering preliminary clinical information to establish early patient engagement. By streamlining these administrative tasks, you will ensure a seamless handoff to primary counselors-who utilize your initial findings to conduct deeper Biopsychosocial Assessments (BPS) and treatment planning, reducing admission delays and allowing our clinical team to focus on direct care.

This onsite position is based at our Shrewsbury, MA facility under the general supervision of the Admissions Manager, with a schedule of Monday through Friday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

    • Complete required intake forms, including Admission Notes and BSAS Enrollment Forms.
    • Submit clinical justifications, specifically ASAM recommendation documentation.
    • Coordinate patient handoffs by collaborating closely with Admissions and Nursing teams.
    • Assist the Admissions team with clinical screenings, referral coordination, and high-volume intake backup.
    • Manage process quality by maintaining clinical Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Train clinical staff on consistent and accurate system use and clinical workflows.
    • Assist with workflow support, projects, and complete administrative tasks during low-admission windows.

    WHAT YOU MUST HAVE:

    • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in human services, Social Work, Sociology, or related field from an accredited institution. A master's degree in a related field is highly preferred.
    • Certification in alcohol and drug counseling, LADC I or II preferred.
    • Experience or education in substance abuse treatment and mental health disorders required. 2+ years of experience working in substance abuse treatment/mental health disorders is preferred.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of military culture, experience in working with veteran population, and an understanding of veterans-related needs and issues preferred.
    • Must be able to successfully pass a CORI/Background records check.
    • Compliance with Veterans Inc. COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Religious and Medical Exemptions are considered.
