Grove School is seeking a Director of Admissions to join its leadership team in Madison, Connecticut. This is a full-time, onsite role for an experienced admissions professional who is passionate about connecting families with the right therapeutic environment for their child. The Director of Admissions manages the full enrollment cycle, builds and sustains relationships with educational consultants and mental health professionals nationwide, and serves as a primary ambassador for Grove's mission. For the right candidate, there is also an opportunity to carry a small clinical caseload as a licensed therapist.
Responsibilities
Lead the Admissions Process
- Manage the full admissions cycle from initial inquiry through enrollment, ensuring every family receives a responsive, mission-aligned experience
- Review psychological evaluations, educational records, and clinical documentation to assess student readiness and placement appropriateness
- Conduct thoughtful, family-centered interviews that help families feel informed, supported, and confident in their decision
- Partner with clinical, academic, and residential teams to evaluate applicant fit and ensure sound, collaborative placement decisions
- Maintain accurate applicant records and generate regular pipeline and enrollment reports for school leadership
Build and Sustain Relationships
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with educational consultants, independent educational evaluators, mental health professionals, and school districts nationwide
- Serve as a knowledgeable, trusted point of contact throughout the inquiry and enrollment process
- Design and lead campus visit experiences that give families an honest, compelling look at what Grove offers
- Respond to all inquiries with the timeliness and care that reflects Grove's values
Represent Grove in the Field
- Represent Grove School at national and regional conferences, as a committed ambassador for our mission
- Travel for outreach visits and relationship-building with consultants and mental health professionals across the country
- Collaborate with the Director of Development and Assistant Director of Admissions to keep materials, outreach messaging, and marketing presence aligned with Grove's brand and strategic goals
Contribute to Enrollment Strategy
- Partner with school leadership to monitor inquiries, applications, yield, and retention in support of institutional enrollment goals
- Participate in enrollment planning conversations and contribute data-informed insights that support sustainable, mission-aligned growth
- Support the transition of newly enrolled students by coordinating logistics and ensuring a strong first impression on arrival
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; graduate degree in education, counseling, social work, or a related field preferred
- Licensed therapist (LCSW, LPC, LMFT, or equivalent) encouraged to apply; opportunity to carry a small clinical caseload available for qualified candidates
- Five or more years of experience in admissions, enrollment management, or a related role within therapeutic, special education, or independent school settings
- Demonstrated experience working with students with social, emotional, and learning challenges, and with the families and professionals who support them
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate complex psychological and educational profiles with professionalism and sensitivity
- Strong relationship-building, organizational, and written communication skills
- Familiarity with the educational consultant community and the therapeutic boarding school landscape
- Willingness to travel and engage in evening or weekend events as needed
