Admissions Registered Nurse

The Admissions Registered Nurse (RN) will be responsible for supporting the safe, efficient, and patient centered admission of individuals entering the hospital system through acute points of entry. This role serves as a key clinical resource in facilitating care transitions, supporting patient flow, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patients are admitted appropriately and without unnecessary delay.

The Admissions RN applies professional nursing judgment to assess initial patient needs, support care coordination, and ensure required clinical and administrative elements of the admission process are completed in alignment with organizational standards and patient care priorities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing

  • Eligible to practice nursing in the State of Florida

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

  • Current NIH Stroke Scale certification

  • Demonstrated ability to assess patients, prioritize care needs, and respond to emergent situations within scope of practice

  • Previous inpatient nursing experience required, intermediate level of care experience preferred

  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and critical thinking skills

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Admissions Registered Nurse is accountable for contributing to effective patient admissions through clinical assessment, coordination of care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Facilitate hospital admission process for incoming patients in collaboration with physicians, nursing staff, and operational partners

  • Apply clinical nursing expertise to evaluate patient status upon admission and identify immediate care, safety, and support needs

  • Collect, validate, and communicate relevant clinical, historical, and treatment information to support continuity of care

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support appropriate patient placement, care progression, and throughput initiatives

  • Ensure accurate, timely, and compliant documentation of admission related information within the electronic medical record

  • Identify clinical risks, care priorities, and resource needs during the admission phase and escalate concerns as appropriate

  • Support patient centered care transitions by incorporating quality, safety, and efficiency considerations into admission workflows

  • Provide care in accordance with Cornerstone values in a culturally competent manner

  • Contribute to a safe clinical environment by recognizing and responding to changes in patient condition or urgent care needs

  • Participate in teamwork, communication, and problem-solving activities that support departmental operations and organizational objectives

  • Adapt to evolving clinical workflows, patient volumes, and organizational priorities related to admissions and care coordination

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by leadership
